UNew Haven is showing the love! Students wrote down what they love about UNH for Valentine’s Day on an Academic Service-Learning bulletin board. Students wrote down their partners, faculty, or coworkers’ names as well as institutional happenings. What a sweet way to brighten someone’s day!
I hope everyone is safe and sound after the winter storm. While we may have been stuck indoors for a few days, this is no reason to stop the challenge! Let Valentine’s Day warm you up! Valentine’s Day is a great day to get inspired! Why not take this day as an opportunity to feel good and do good by helping others.

I bought a total stranger a drink at Starbucks this morning! She got a free venti iced chai and I got myself a venti iced coffee. She was so surprised and appreciative that someone would do this out of the blue! I feel great; not only because of the delicious drink, but because of doing something nice!
Our Acts of Kindness are starting to roll in as the month kicks off. Here is one act we received on our Twitter @EasternCCE
@easterncce Found this ID on the ground and brought it to a front desk #randomactsofkindnessmonth twitter.com/Sharebear820/s…

I hope everyone had an excellent weekend beginning their month of kindness! Don’t forget to share your acts of kindness on the blog :)
The University of New Haven is also participating in this event! If any UNH students would like to share, please use the blog or even post it on our FB:
Best of luck everyone!!
I hope everyone is getting ready to start the 26 Days of Kindness on Friday February 1st! If you need some ideas, check out the below link! Remember to share your own stories and pictures on the blog.
We are really excited to participate in the 26 Days of Kindness for the month of February! We will encourage students to share their act of kindness on our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ECSUCenterforCommunityEngagement) , then relay their stories here. Our goal is to have at least one student share a story per day to get the ball rolling. This is a great project that we are proud to be a part of!
- Center for Community Engagement at Eastern Connecticut State University
This blog was created in order for community members in CT to join together and participate in an event that inspires us to be engaged in a compassionate way.
The idea sprang from conversations about having one day dedicated to spreading peace through service in New Haven. Following the Sandy Hook tragedy, the idea spread into the “26 Days of Kindness” from Ann Curry. We thought this would be a great way for us to show our support for Newtown.
By joining this effort, you will commit to one act of kindness every day for 26 days, or for most of February. The act can be small or can be large, it is really up to you. Anyone is invited to join!
